Is Beyond Targets Events a nonprofit organization?
No. Beyond Targets Events, also known as BTE, is not a nonprofit organization. BTE is an event company that partners with established nonprofit organizations to create and manage fundraising events.
Our business model is simple. BTE brings together sponsors, participants, volunteers, businesses, and community partners to produce meaningful benefit events. Sponsorships and general event donations help cover necessary expenses such as clay targets, meals, equipment, venue costs, awards, and event production. After event expenses are paid, the net proceeds benefit the nonprofit organizations selected for that event.
For the 2026 Reloading Hope Benefit Shoot, we are proud to partner with East Texas Crisis Center, Hope Haven of East Texas, and HOPE Jacksonville.
BTE does not compete with nonprofits. We help nonprofits expand their reach, share their missions, and raise funds through professionally organized community events.
How does BTE choose its nonprofit partners?
BTE does not choose nonprofit partners from a list or based only on an application. We believe the best partnerships begin with a real connection.
Any nonprofit is welcome to email BTE and introduce its mission, the people it serves, and the needs it is working to meet. From there, our founders and committee members want the opportunity to get to know the organization, hear its story, visit when possible, and understand how the nonprofit is making a difference in the community.
We want to know the people behind the mission, not just the name of the organization. Our goal is to build genuine relationships and choose partners whose work touches our hearts and aligns with the purpose of Reloading Hope.
Can organizations that only donate to 501(c)(3) nonprofits support Reloading Hope?
Yes. Each year, an organization may write its check directly to one of the nonprofit organizations benefiting from Reloading Hope.
The check should include a note in the memo line stating that the donation is for the Reloading Hope Benefit Shoot. This allows the nonprofit recipient to properly record the contribution, provide the appropriate donation receipt, and account for any event-related expenses connected to the fundraiser.
BTE works closely with our nonprofit partners to make sure donations are properly identified and used to support the event and its mission. Before sending the donation, please contact BTE so we can provide the correct nonprofit name, mailing information, and payment instructions for that year’s event.
Why do many business sponsors make their checks payable directly to BTE?
Most businesses support Reloading Hope as a sponsorship and marketing expense rather than as a charitable contribution.
When a business sponsors the event, it may receive valuable promotional benefits such as its logo on event materials, recognition on our website and social media, signage at the event, community exposure, or team participation. Because the payment is connected to promoting the business, it may qualify as an ordinary and necessary business advertising or marketing expense.
A qualifying business expense may generally be deducted in full against business income, while charitable contribution deductions may be subject to different limits and rules. The IRS also explains that a payment connected to a business and made with a reasonable expectation of a financial return may be treated as a business expense rather than a charitable contribution.
Businesses that pay BTE directly will receive an invoice or sponsorship receipt describing their participation. Because BTE is not a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the payment should not be recorded as a charitable donation to BTE.
Every business has a different tax situation, so sponsors should confirm the proper classification with their accountant or tax professional.
Will BTE ever become a nonprofit organization?
Possibly, but becoming a nonprofit is not our goal simply for the sake of having that title.
BTE was created to bring people, businesses, volunteers, and nonprofit organizations together through meaningful events. Our current business model gives us the flexibility to build strong events, form new partnerships, and respond to the needs of each nonprofit we serve.
As BTE grows, our founders and committee will continue to evaluate what structure best supports the mission. If becoming a nonprofit one day would allow us to create more impact, serve more organizations, and carry Reloading Hope further, we would be open to that possibility.
For now, our focus is not on what BTE is called. Our focus is on the hope we can create, the people we can bring together, and the lives we can help change.
